~ ABOUT US ~
The preaching, programs, and people of Cool Community Church are saturated with the Bible--the Word of God. Scripture is God's special and revealed will for humanity. The Bible is to be believed in all it teaches, obeyed in all that it requires, and trusted in all that it promises. The purpose of our sermons is not to entertain, induce laughter, or share uplifting
sentimental stories, but to deliver God's truth into the lives of His people for life transformation. We are a people who measure life not by cultural trends, but by the eternal, God-breathed, and inerrant
Word of God. We are in touch with our culture, but not influenced by it. Media, stories and illustrations are used to creatively teach biblical truth; biblical truth is not the side-dish but the main entrée. The Bible
is central in all our ministries from the nursery to our "Young at Heart."
THE PEOPLE OF GOD The heart of God is for all people to come to know Him as Lord and Savior. We believe the reason that Christ has not yet returned is that He is patient in drawing people to Himself. He desires people from every tribe and tongue to believe. He is not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9b). The way that we live our lives before the world should show His love, compassion, and holiness. This is no easy task for the Christian. We need one another. At Cool Church we believe that we need both the wisdom of the mature and the enthusiastic risk-taking of the youth. We are a multi-generational church and we would have it no other way. One of the most powerful components of a church can be its congregational singing of "psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs (Colossians 3:16)." The music at Cool Community Church is focused on the Savior--not on style preferences. We strive to have music that resonates with the hearts of the old and the young. We understand that a worship song that resonates with a seventeen year-old will likely not resonate with a seventy year-old. That's why we sing both "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God" and "How Great is Our God." Finally, we see small group life as essential for spiritual health and growth. We gather corporately on Sunday mornings and during the week in various small group settings, especially in our geographic, Neighborhood Fellowship Groups. THE GLORY OF GOD So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God(1 Corinthians 10:31). The ultimate purpose of every human being is to live a life that displays the greatness of God. We exist to glorify God, to please Him and to display His greatness in our daily lives. It is all about His glory, not our own. Indeed, the universe exists to glorify God (Psalm 19:1). So whether it's Vacation Bible School, high school discipleship, or the Young at Heart, we seek to do it all for His glory, not for the glory of Cool Church, it's leadership, or its membership.
A "Family" Church Cool Community Church, a multi-generational church, seeks to minister to the entire segment of the people of God. We strongly uphold the sanctity of all human life--both in the womb and at the end of life. We design Sunday morning services with all ages in mind. Our nursery and cry room are available for those with little ones. We dismiss children up through 4th grade for the sermon (though they are welcome to stay with their family), but desire them present for congregational singing, baptisms, and other components of the service. We have listening devices available upon request from one of our ushers. The Georgetown Divide is a great place for rearing a family and Cool Community Church has a place for all ages: including our nursery, AWANA, Jr. High, High School, College, Neighborhood Fellowship, and Young at Heart ministries. Who Are We Affiliated With? We are affiliated with the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA). The EFCA is a family of congregations who are self-governing, but who are in cooperation with one another for the purposes of world-wide evangelism, training of leaders, accountability, and fellowship. Cool Community Church was founded in 1979 and has been affiliated with the EFCA since 2004. The EFCA provides congregations with tools for church health. We are enthusiastic about our church family that reaches across the USA and 45 other nations. See www.efca.org for more information. |
